Android 5.0 Lollipop upgrade for the Samsung Galaxy S5 starts rolling out



Samsung isn’t always the first company that comes to mind when thinking of manufacturers who deliver the most timely updates to the latest versions of Android, but they seem to have been inspired by the latest major release of Android 5.0 Lollipop. The upgrade is now rolling out to Samsung Galaxy S5 users… in Poland.
Small markets like Poland tend to get the upgrade ahead of everyone else as it’s a good way to test the distribution and fallout of the upgrade process without potentially putting millions of units at risk. Should everything go well in that leg of the world then you can rest assured Samsung will polish it up for the rest of us in due time.
As with any software update, you’re bound to wait a tad longer depending on region and carrier. We reckon unlocked versions of the handset will get it first, with folks in Europe and South Korea getting next at bat. North America is typically on the long end of the update track.
A recent video of leaked firmware for the device embedded above shows you exactly what to expect once it finally makes its way to your handset. TouchWiz has as strong a presence as you’d expect, though Samsung did tweak the aesthetics enough to make it feel a bit different from what we’re used to.
If you live in Poland — congrats, and have fun! For everyone else, well, at least this shows Samsung isn’t dragging their feet and that they’re making good pace and progress on getting the upgrade out to everyone.

Android 5.0 for Galaxy Note 4 and Note 3 coming in early-2015: Samsung


Samsung has announced that it is beginning the roll-out of Android 5.0 Lollipop update for Galaxy S5 smartphone in South Korea today. The update is already live in Poland and will reach other countries in the coming weeks.
The company has also stated that the smartphones like Galaxy Note 4, Galaxy Note 3, Galaxy S5 LTE-A and Galaxy S4 will get the Android 5.0 update in early-2015.
There is no word on when other Samsung Android phones will be getting the new Android version, but we hope to hear more from the company in the coming months.
To remind you, Android 5.0 Lollipop update brings a number of improvements and new features like lock-screen notifications, heads-up notifications, ART as default runtime, UI improvements, battery enhancements, guest mode on phones, improved security and more. Samsung’s version of the update obviously includes TouchWiz, but the company made tweaks several parts of its UI to bring them in line with material design

Android 5.0.1 now rolling out to Nexus 4, 6, 7, and Moto G GPe [OTA DOWNLOAD]


 Nexus 4, Nexus 6, and even the Nexus 7 (2013) WiFi have begun receiving their Android 5.0.1 updates over-the-air. Earlier today we saw the updates hit Google’s factory images page, and suspected a rollout was imminent.
For anyone itching to get their hands on the update but aren’t willing to wipe their devices with the factory images, you can download the OTA zip files directly from Google below for the sideloading. Enjoy.

Samsung Galaxy Core Prime goes on sale in India for INR 9,275


Samsung has released the new Galaxy Core Prime smartphone in the Indian market. The phone is now available at brick and mortar stores as well as eBay India. You can now purchase it online for INR 9,275 and we expect similar price-tag in the offline stores.
At this price-tag, Samsung Galaxy Core Prime offers a 4.5-inch WVGA PLS display, 1.2GHz quad-core processor, 1GB of RAM and Android 4.4. The phone also comes with 5MP rear camera, 2MP front shooter and 2000 mAh battery. In addition, Samsung has included 8GB of internal storage, microSD card slot, and 3Gsupport in the Galaxy Core Prime.
At this price-tag, the phone will have a hard time competing with smartphones like Asus Zenfone 5, Moto E, Zenfone 4 A450CG, Xiaomi Redmi 1S, and Moto G (2013).
Samsung releases Galaxy Tab S 10.5 Wi-Fi version
In related news, Samsung has released the Wi-Fi only version Galaxy Tab S 10.5 in the country. It is now available at brick and mortar stores for INR 34,500. We haven’t been able to find any e-retailers offering the tablet. There is no word on whether Samsung plans to release a Wi-Fi only version of Galaxy Tab S 8.4 too.
To remind you, Samsung Galaxy Tab S 10.5 features Android 4.4, 3GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage, 8MP rear camera, 2MP front shooter, 1.9GHz Exynos 5 Octa processor and 2560x1600pp display.
